Pleroma Farm, a Biodynamic farm.

What is biodynamic farming?  The Austrian philosopher and visionary Dr. Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925) pointed out that certain changes could be made in the farming practices of his time.  Today we can widely observe the damaging effects of large-scale farming, with its use of chemicals and its manipulation of plants and animals, as it strives to satisfy the ever-present hunger for money. This makes the call to change our ways even stronger.  Dr. Steiner pointed out that one can recognize that our Earth is not merely a collection of minerals and molecules, functioning in a overwhelmingly intricate way, but rather a living organism.  And just as a child's functioning is colored by the interaction with its family members, friends and teachers, so must the planet Earth be recognized as a member of the family of planets and Sun and be treated accordingly.  Agriculture becomes a way to care for our Earth, its goal the ultimate health of the living organism Earth, its ways guided by the relationship between Earth and her family of planets and the Sun. Dr Steiner gave directions towards the use of certain plant, mineral and cow manure preparations that enhance the fertility of the soil, thus allowing the farmer to grow products while increasing nature's viability.  All farming practices on a biodynamic farm are directed towards creating a well-functioning, healthful chunk of nature, and once practiced, one experiences the reward of an ever-increasing abundance of gifts from nature: fruits, vegetables, milk, honey, eggs and meat.
